Can you just use the polished aluminum as the color it shows Or do you have to use it as a base coat only? I just want the polished aluminum look.

I plan on applying Polished Aluminum HSS-2345 as a base coat for a translucent teal top coat. What is the recommended cure schedule for Polished Aluminum HSS-2345?

Polished Aluminum HSS-2345 has a recommended "flash" cure schedule. Flash time is 4 minutes beyond flow-out or gel-out at 375 degree F. You can locate application guides on our website. Can I apply a primer coat like ESS-6518 or ESS-10171 beneath Polished Aluminum HSS-2345?

Yes, you can apply either ESS-6518 or ESS-10171 under Polished Aluminum HSS-2345. You would only partial cure the primer (flow-out), then pull and allow to cool. Apply your Polished Aluminum and also bring to flow-out but add 4 minutes to that time…so, flow-out +4 minutes. Pull and allow to cool, then you would apply your required clear coat or transparent top coat and follow that coating’s cure schedule to cure all layers together providing strong inter-coat adhesion between all 3 layers.

Does Polished Aluminum HSS-2345 require a clear coat?

Clear Coat is required for Polished Aluminum. Whether using Clear Vision PPS-2974 or any of the available transparents like Lollypop Blue UPS-2502 or Brassy Gold PPS-6530 or Metallic Top Coats like Shattered Glass PPB-5583, protecting Polished Aluminum is important to prevent oxidation.
